The Value of Obedience!

In just a few short hours I will have the privilege of being the Best Man at my brothers wedding.  At times I wondered if this day would ever happen. However, as a result of following God’s will my brother is about to marry the beautiful young woman named Rachel Ellis.

Scripture says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.  Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise)”  (Ephesians 6:1-2, KJV). Many people today have no idea what it means to obey and honour. Daniel does! I few short years ago my brother was asked to do something I never thought he could handle. He was asked by his mom to end his engagement to a wonderful young lady who he loved very much.  He immediately called me and he asked what he should do.  I asked him if he still considered himself to be under the authority of his mother and father. He responded with a yes and with a bunch of tears he said. “I want to be obedient to God, but I just don’t know how.” I told him to take it one step at a time and God would work everything out.

Daniel increased his walk with God and found peace with the decision he had made. Then God  showed Daniel his next step. Exactly one year to the day of the original wedding date on June 5th Daniel was given some great advice.  Mrs. Anna Teis pointed over to a young lady named Rachel and proceeded to tell Daniel that he needed to date her. Mrs. Teis has done this before and the results are pretty good.  Knowing the date Daniel was skeptical. But his desire to be obedient to God’s plan and the fact she was cute compelled him to action.

Eighteen months later Daniel finds himself today being rewarded with a beautiful bride to share his life with.  I can assure you that no one had any idea who Daniel would marry. I can say that everyone who had experienced the blessings of being obedient to God knew she would be great, and by the way ,SHE IS!

  1. Wow! Yesterday was their 6 months of wedding happiness! Such a great testimony to your brother, your mom, you, Mrs. Teis, Rachel, her parents, etc who God uses through obedience and prayer! He can see the whole tapestry of life, but we see only a few threads!
